this set of applications accounts for: usability testing, screen capture (video , still), version control, task lists, bug tracking, developer ide, web server, blog, shared doc editing on web, team , individual chat, email, databases , continuous integration. assume team members provide own machines, , 1 person has spare old computer source repository , web server. under $200 bucks.

i add space, time , money 2 more things might consider strange.

  1. a machine set average user. no development or debugging tools installed. make bought apple store. image switching i've know people swear switching external boot drive.

  2. also include 'free' lunch virgin. come in , test program not developer , doesn't know squat software. might have more once don't ever use same person again.

as added note, make sure 'free' applications , web sites use free, not free personal use!
