Simple database application for Windows -

i need build simple, single user database application windows. main requirements independence windows version , installed software. technologies (language/framework) recommend? preference language visual basic.

edit: vb.net , sql server compact edition?

i recommend sqlite. it's self-contained, , public domain there no license issues @ all.
